Jason Berlin Alumni Spotlight 5What year did you graduate? What schools did you attend?
I attended Edmonson, Page and Lamphere and graduated from Lamphere High School in 2008.

Where do you live now? Berkley, MI

Jason Berlin Alumni Spotlight 3Tell us about what you've been doing since graduation:
After high school I lived in Canada for 2 years playing Junior A Hockey in Elliot Lake, Ontario. The next few years I went to work for my grandpa's business traveling around the state of Michigan building and powering Verizon cell phone towers.

I am currently attending Wayne State University earning my Bachelors of Science in Construction Management and am working as a Project Manager for Motor City Electric.

Jason Berlin Alumni Spotlight 2Tell us about your family and/or hobbies:

My family is definitely a group of hard working individuals. My mom Jeanne works for Lamphere Schools. My dad Jerry  is a retired electrician. My brother Jamie is an electrician and my sister Jen just opened up her own business, The Wax Studio. Both Jamie and Jennifer got married last summer and it’s great to have another sister (Nicole) and brother (Mike) in the family.

Jason Berlin Alumni Spotlight 5In my free time, my hobbies include hunting, fishing, playing hockey, playing golf and working out. Frequent runs with my dog Rookie are a lot of fun too.

How did your years at Lamphere affect your life?
My years at Lamphere allowed me to meet a lot of great people that taught me a lot. From coaches and teachers to other students from around the world, the things I learned at Lamphere went well beyond math, science, social studies etc. Learning about different cultures and traditions of my classmates at Lamphere along with leadership and time management skills has helped me in many phases of my life; when in Canada as a member of a hockey team of players from around the world being able to understand different ways of life and finding common ground, as a college student juggling work and school, and as a project manager meeting deadlines and managing materials and crews, the skills and behaviors I left Lamphere with have had an incredible effect on my life.

The close group of friends that I have today is all thanks to Lamphere as well.

If you had a message for current Lamphere students what would it be?
Enjoy your time there. Don’t be in a rush to get out.
